PF-115 enamel is extremely versatile and at the same time its cost is not high. It dries quite quickly, and the smell fades as it dries. That is why this type of enamel has become so widely used and has been used for many years.
Intended for painting metal, wooden unpainted or previously painted surfaces exposed to atmospheric influences and indoors. If PF-115 enamel is used indoors, the smell can be absorbed into the walls, furniture, textiles. Therefore, before applying the paint, it is necessary to clean the room as much as possible from materials capable of absorbing odors.
The quality of PF-115 enamel is regulated by the state standard GOST 6465-76, according to which, a coating consisting of 2 layers of enamel (30-40 microns), applied to a prepared primed surface, in a moderate and cold climate retains protective properties at least , than during 4 years, and decorative ones – at least 1 year.
According to GOST 6465-76, PF-115 enamel should have the following quality indicators: the film should have stability t -50°С – +60°С; the gloss of the coating is not less than 50% according to the photoelectric gloss meter, the conventional viscosity is from 80 to 120 seconds according to the VZ-4 viscometer (at a lower viscosity value, the enamel is inconvenient to apply with a brush, and at a higher viscosity, an additional consumption of solvent is required to reduce the viscosity for application a certain tool); mass fraction of non-volatile substances 57 – 70%, depending on the color (an important indicator that regulates the amount of film-forming substance in the enamel); the degree of dilution to a working viscosity of 28-30 seconds is no more than 20%; degree of grinding no more than 25 microns (maximum size of enamel solid particles – pigments and fillers); the coverage of the dried film, depending on the color, is 30-120 g/m.sq. (the indicator is equivalent to enamel consumption); drying time no more than 24 hours; elasticity of the film when bending is no more than 1 mm; the strength of the film upon impact with the U-1 device is not less than 40 cm (when a load weighing 1 kg, with an impact diameter of 8 mm, falls on the painted surface from a height of 40 cm – the coating is not damaged in the form of cracking and crumpling); the hardness of the coating according to the TML pendulum device (depending on the color) is not less than 0.1-0.25; adhesion of the film no more than 1 point (the maximum quantitative indicator of adhesion on a conventional scale); resistance of the coating to the static effect of water for at least 2 hours; resistance of the coating to the static effect of a 0.5% detergent solution for at least 15 hours.
